Early this morning, HardCormier and I were walking across McKenzie King Bridge - which is a normal part of my daily trek to work. As we moved (sleepily along) we saw what appeared to be balloons tied down to the railings of the bridge.
Upon closer examination, we realized that they were helium inflated, baby-foot shaped balloons tagged with "It's a Girl" and "It's a boy!" slogans.
At an even closer glance, each balloon had a tag attached to it...
Inner dialogue:
Baby shower?
No.
Snow-suit fund-raising campaign?
No.
Anti-smoking demonstration / effort?
Bing, Bing, Bing!
Okay, We did have to read the tags before we were able to understand the message.
Comments: While this is a high traffic area (and therefore a useful place to spread whatever message you need to share), I do think that Rideau Street would have been a more target specific area. The air quality on the bridge is like mountain air when compared to the charry haze of Rideau!
Over-all Impression: A memorable image for those who took the time to look closer.

I just wanted to send-out a quick thankyou to all of Hard Cormier's friends who have welcomed me into their LJ nooks! I feel so loved! :)
Point of Interest: January 27th is Family Literacy Day!
For eight hours out of every day, I am Queen of the Little People. I am a preschool teacher and my working hours are spent facilitating and teaching social, self-help, pre-math, pre-science and skills in language and literature to at risk children... and that's just the nib of the pen!
I love my job because at least once a day, I get to witness an "a-ha" moment.... a moment where the lightbulb goes on in a room, a room that was always in existance, but in some ways I'm the electrician!
.... and If I'm the electrician, then Robert Munsch is - the generator!
http://robertmunsch.com
Munsch is on a level of creative genius with the likes of Jim Henson when it comes to understanding and stimulating the minds of the new. He embodies the formula of three and the utter importance of humour, and yet is able to keep his text simple enough for most three year olds to retain days later and laugh at during independent memory recall.
One of my co-workers has arranged to have our Centre be placed on the list of schools that Robert Munsch may visit and perform for! His process of selection is random at best, but i'm big believer in the power of crossed fingers!

I worry sometimes that my opportunities for adventure are runnning short. After long streams of inner dialogue I have come to a bold conclusion, and it's of the 'fuck-that' school of thought. Thus, I have decided to concentrate on trying new things this year, ranging from the extravagant (a couple of trips and a part-time course to keep my brain awake), to simply walking down different streets on my way home from work.
Ta-da! My first post.
